Beautifully imperfect / Ganni A Bloom

This womenswear SS’24 print collection aims to celebrate the female form, which is inspired by my own struggles with body dysmorphia. Societies idea of a ‘perfect body’ will be challenged through a series of both realistic and abstract observational drawings, created in online and in-person life drawing classes. Drawings will then develop into a textural print collection that will translate the female form onto garments to enable to wearer to become ambiguous. Collections prints will feature both placement to scale prints and smaller repeat prints.

This collection will be based on a neutral colour palette, sampled from a range of skin tones and undertones. The neutral colour palette will be translated into a neutral fabric story. These fabrics will be different weights and textures, including polyester crepe, linens, and various satins, to reflect that there are different textures within skin types.

Designer research on the collections market level influence, Loewe, will help inform the silhouette, garment details and garment finishing’s, at a luxury level. The rounded cocoon silhouette that will be seen throughout the collection, is representing the beautify curves of the natural female body. The concept of the women’s body, will be exaggerated in many

garments by the use of oversized features including sleeves, hem widths, shoulder positions and volume in the body. Further volume will be created in the body through heavy fabric  ruching and gathering, which is controlled by draw tapes and ties, creating a sense of versatility in the garments.
